I’m delighted that we managed to arrange this year’s biannual riverbank clean up on Sunday 10th October. The event was supported by Wivenhoe Society members, the Wivenhoe Wombles and Wivenhoe Rivercare Group. Kevin kindly organised the skip, and EWD now part of Dunmow Skips provided this without charge. Pat Smith had all the equipment which we placed in the car and Pat remained with the car to hand out litter pickers and bags. With the fantastic work done by individuals over the last 18 months, there was less rubbish to collect, but fantastic work was done by everyone, especially the children/family groups, who seemed to enjoy the activity. We also asked folks to bring loppers and secateurs and managed to cut back a significant amount of overhanging branches on the Trail just before the Lower Lodge crossing. My thanks also to WTC and Michael who joined us on the day.
My thanks to all show supported this event, it makes a difference to our community and that’s what we are about.
